Why everyone should be a liberal

Posted on 14 March 2010 by Spatziano

By J. Matthew Nespoli

There are about ten people who run the world.

These ten people are made up of ten of the wealthiest men in the world.

The control our governments, have more power than the President, and control our media.

These people are part of the conservative movement.

And unless you are one of them, you should favor the liberal position in 99% of all economic issues (and almost all issues come down to economics)

Through the years, I’ve taken just about every piece of proposed legislation to you, and broken it down for that specific piece. But now I’m going to come at it from a different angle, one that is more broad, to see if maybe that will help to convince a few more of you.

The uber wealthy- these men I speak of who run the world, they didn’t get into the position they are in by being good ethical people. Their ascension to power was one that was bloody. There is a finite amount of resources in this world, and to accumulate the amount of resources that these singular individuals acquire for themselves, directly leads to others having much much less. It leads to others dying of starvation. These people who acquire all this money and power do not use ethical means to get where they are. And these people, who have this power and money, aren’t interested in social issues, religious issues, any issues. All they are interested in is taking more from us and putting it in their pockets.

These people have taken over our government. Republican or Democrat, these people own them. They buy politicians by funding their campaigns. Then, the politicians owe them and vote in their favor.

Their goal is to take and take and take until they have it all. And to do that they need to continue to deregulate the restrictions on their corporations, expand the 1200 page tax code to include more and more loopholes for their multi-billion dollar corporations, and get rid of all trade restrictions.

And you know what? The Republican champion, Ronald Regan, the person that they handpicked, the person whom they’ve told you is the greatest President of all time, is the same one who started doing all of the things they wanted, all of the things I just mentioned.

But it wasn’t just Regan. It was Bush, the Clinton, and then Bush again, getting rid of all the regulation that had been put in place by FDR, after the last collapse of the economy. FDR saved our butts. And now we are just about back in the same position as we were before he took over. We don’t have much longer to get somebody back in there to fix it all again and put restrictions on these companies.

But maybe the most frustrating thing in all this is that these uber elite wealthy not only control government, but they control the minds of so many of our citizens as well. How? A few ways:

1. Spending zillions on propaganda.
2. Owning multi-media.

One of these powerful men I speak of, one of the men who is truly running the world, is Rupert Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch has more money than God. He also owns a lot of media. Fox news is one of the media outlets that he owns. Ever wonder why Fox media leans so hard to the right? It’s because that is in the best interest in Rupert Murdoch.

They also control the churches, because they understand that if they control the churches, they control even more votes. Again, they do this with large amounts of money and by making deals to support certain social issues (which they don’t care about, like abortion), in exchange for the church peddling their ideas. Now, I’m gonna stop with this idea, concerning the churches, because I know this is a hot button issue and I’ll lose a lot of people before I have them. So let’s move on.

Let’s talk about the tea party.

The people of the tea party movement are angry, and I understand their anger, because I’m angry too. I’m angry about the same things as them. The middle class is dying, our economic situation is turning more and direr by the minute, and it’s frustrating. However, they are directing their anger in the wrong direction. Where their anger needs to be directed at is the one and only minority that is really a true threat to our well-being-

The uber elite.

However, that’s not where they are taking out their frustration. The tea party is going after Obama and his “socialist” movement. Do you know who funds the Tea Party? The same people who I’m talking about at the top of this blog. The wealthiest men in the world.

The Republican mantra is that they want government so small that he could drown it in a bathtub.

That would not be a good thing.

The function of government is to protect the best interest of the greater good and to keep any one group from gaining too much power.

Yes, government has failed us. They have allowed these transnational corporations to take all the power. But deconstructing government is not how you fix that. Deconstructing government just gives these corporations exactly what they want. More power. Less regulation.

These people have zero ethics. They don’t care about anything. We need our government to protect us from them.

The first thing we have to do is take our government back from these politicians who are in the back pockets of these men.

The next election, the Senate races of 2010, don’t vote Republican. Don’t vote democrat. Find a politician who does not have his campaign funded by a transnational corporation and vote for that person. These are the people we need to put into government. And we have to do it now. We are running out of time.

Race, will we ever move past this?

Posted on 14 January 2010 by Spatziano

By J. Matthew Nespoli

I feel like I’m taking two steps backward anytime I address this topic, but it’s what people are talking about this week, so I must address it.

Race-racism-racial discussions.

Now, before I start, let me first make a blanket statement that I believe to be true. The one true dangerous minority in this country is the uber-elite, mega-rich, trans-national, corporate elite. This minority does not care about you, white people, black people, this country, your religion, your atheism, anything. All they care about is taking money from you and lining their own pockets with it. It is the one true faction of this society that is ruining our way of life, and has nearly put an end to the middle class. So, as long as we are wasting time having debates about race and racism, we are putting the focus on the wrong enemy, wasting time, and the trans-national corporate leaders are laughing at our stupidity and lack of focus.

Secondly, let me state that our commonalities between one another are based more on our economic grouping than on the tone of our skin.

That being said, let’s talk about race…

We all know what Harry Reid said recently, as well as Trent Lott, years ago. So I need not repeat it. It’s gotten the racists, the minorities, the conservatives and the liberals, all up in arms, and tangled in a pointless debate.

The question they are posing is: Were Harry Reid’s remarks racist? And whether they were or not, shouldn’t he be fired since Trent Lott was fired for similar comments?

I don’t know Harry Reid, so I can’t comment on whether or not he’s a racist. I can state that what he said was pretty accurate, that America is not yet ready to elect a President who speaks with a “Negro Accent”. Now, maybe the use of the word “Negro” is offensive to some, but to those who are offended by this lame word, I say this- “GROW UP!”

We need to stop being so freaking sensitive in this society. I don’t think Harry Reid’s use of the word was meant to be demeaning, but maybe it was. I really can’t speak of what was in his heart.

What I can speak of is race, in general, and how stupid it is that we get caught up in it at all.

We are different, all of us. Regardless of color, we are different. All black people are different from one another every bit as much as I am different from most black people. You see, being black, just like being white, is the result of one gene… much the way that your hair color or your eye color is dictated by one gene. Your genes are typically acquired in groups of genomes, which are groups of genes that are often times found together in one’s DNA. For example: a person with black skin is more likely to have thin, curly, dark hair and dark eyes because those genes are often packaged together in genomes. The same can be said for white people and the likelihood of light hair and light eyes, or people of Asian decent with long straight hair.

And if those facts offend you, then call your local scientist and take it up with him. I don’t make the rules, I’m just reporting them to you.

To break it down simplistically for you, people have been evolving for a very very long time. As we evolve, we do two things:

1- The strong survive, are thus more likely to reproduce, and more likely to pass on those genes.

2- We adapt to our climate

Speaking on #1- Early man, located in Africa, evolved differently than early man located in Europe. To survive the elements of Africa, dark skin was a benefit. The sun was brutal. White skin would not survive the elements there. Black skin has more melanin, and a better capacity for absorbing the sun. Dark eyes are better suited for the sun as well. Africa is not a very fertile land (one of the reasons they suffer from so much malnutrition to this day), thus, the early African was more likely to be a hunter than a farmer. Thus, those with more physical strength were more likely to survive. Not to mention that in Africa there are dangerous elements like lions and tigers and thirty foot poisonous snakes. So, early man there would be more likely to survive if he had dark skin, dark eyes, and a decent frame. Those more likely to survive are more likely to reproduce. They reproduce and pass on their genetics (dark skin, dark eyes, etc). After hundreds of generations, the light skin gene is completely bred out of the African dna.

Now, speaking on #1- Early man, located in Europe, had different traits that were more key to their survival. The sun wasn’t hot in Europe, so when people emigrated there, from the cradle of civilization (Africa), their dark skin wasn’t as much as an attribute. The same for dark eyes. The land was fertile and they were more likely to be farmers. Body hair became an asset, as many areas of Europe were very cold in the winter, long thick hair was also an asset for the same reasons. Thus, in Europe, these were the assets that made it more likely for survival, and these were the assets that were subsequently passed down through generations.

Now, I am oversimplifying the above to a very very large degree. I am doing so because the complexities of this can become quite overwhelming. Still, for the most part, this is spot on, and helps to make the point that I’m going to get at.

Let’s move on to #2- We adapt to our climate.

As society advanced, certain traits were no longer needed. We learned how to keep ourselves warm by generating heat. Thus, body hair was no longer as big a necessity or asset. We learned how to make weapons to hunt, thus size was no longer as big an asset. Etc. We also developed technology, like the boat, that allowed us to travel and move to new lands. Most countries today are made up with people who’s ancestors came from all over the world. The longer a lineage of people is in a new place, the more they will start to look like the people who are indigenous to that land. The evolution towards that takes a very very long time, and you won’t notice it in your own lifetime. However, the adaptation (#2 of the above), happens fairly quickly.

I can give you an example with my own wife’s family. She is Filipino. Filipinos, by their very nature, are a mixed people. They are a mish-most of ethnic backgrounds, basically made up of all the different empires that have come into their land, raped and impregnated their women, and spread their own dna. But mostly they are made up of Spanish, Japanese, and American decent. My wife, and her family, all had the typical Asian-looking narrow eyes. We don’t need to get into why Asians have slanted eyes, but that too has to do with evolution. Anyway, when I look at childhood pictures of my wife and her family, when they were living in the Phillippines, I barely recognize them. They have darker skin, longer straighter hair, and slanted eyes. Now, after 20 years here in America, all of them have round eyes (as compared to their eyes from before), hair with a little more body, and they have much lighter skin.

Why?

Because, besides an entire group of people evolving so that they are better suited to survive a certain environment, the individual has the ability to adapt on his own, without changing his dna one bit. The changes may be subtle, but they are there.

There, now that I’ve given you that little science and history lesson, let’s move on to the point.

The point, is that unless you are either a scientist, historian, or doctor that treats genetically related diseases, then one’s race is absolutely irrelevant. Most of us do not fit into the above said groups. Thus, to us, race should be a non-factor.

We are not different or the same because of our skin color. That is but one small factor. I would argue that I have much more in common with the middle class black man down the street than I do with Marc Cuban. I hung out with Marc Cuban. We had practically nothing in common. Likewise, my black neighbor has more in common with me than he does with Tiger Woods or Barack Obama.

Thus, it is time for us to leave race behind and to stop arguing about this petty shit. It’s time for black people to forgive us for slavery, as none of us were around for it. Likewise, it is time for white people to stop being racist repressive dicks (there still are many, you know who you are).

If we could see past race, once and for all, and see our commonalities, common interests, and common enemies, then we would see that all of us are being taken advantage of by these trans-national corporate elite. We would see that they want us to fight with each other, because as long as we are distracted by things such as race, we don’t have the attention to put on societies one true common enemy- the corporate elite.

Part of me thinks that it would be great, if for two generations, everyone was forced to breed with another race. That way, we’d all look the freaking same and it would be easy to move past this. Another part of me thinks that it’s pretty sad that this is what it might take.

There is no news

Posted on 02 December 2009 by Spatziano

RM

News does not exist anymore in this country.  Free speech still reign. Unfortunately, those doing the speaking are all corporately run.

We at NakedWordSurfer boycotted all TV and radio news (except NPR), during the last election.  We’ve known for years that all the news stations were corporately owned, and the news always had a corporate slant on it, but until this point it had not quite been so glaringly blatant.

Much like we need campaign and election reform in this country in order to get rid of the corporate control of our government, we also need government to establish laws about the media. Reagan got rid of the fairness doctrine, which said that both sides of any argument had to be given to both sides by any media outlet that was claiming to be the news, and it was after this that Fox News became the 24/7 propaganda network for the Republican party.

I’m not just out to attack Fox here. My feelings towards that propaganda station are well documented, so I don’t need to address it again. I also need to address the other stations.  MSNBC, which has been called a station in the tank for liberals, is guilty of corporately driven news as well; they are just more clever about it. They disguise themselves as a liberal market, but in reality, last year, they had twice as many Republican guests than they did liberals.  They, like Fox, are corporately owned, and pushing a corporate agenda.

They all are.

Americans depend on their news to shape their views and to give them insight into politics so that they know which way to vote come voting day. If we are not actually given the news, but rather just given some blowhard’s opinion, then how are we to do this?  All news should be neutral and unbiased. Now, I know that may not be as exciting as hearing Sean Hannity and Keith Oberman yelling at each other, but so what?  Maybe there can be channels for that stuff, or shows like that, but they should not label themselves as news programs.

Rupert Murdoch owns Fox News. He also owns over 100 newspapers worldwide and websites, cable stations, etc, etc. It is estimated that Rupert Murdoch’s news gets to about 5 billion people in the world. That is essentially everyone who has access to media.

How can people possibly be objective about their views when they are getting it all from one man? And please do not tell me that this man is objective. For years it has been widely known, and even accepted, that each morning at Fox, Rupert gives them their list of talking points. He tells them point blank what their positions will be. During the Bush reign, these points came directly from the White House.

Corporate rule of this country is getting stronger by the day. The government’s decision to bail them out, rather than us, is proof of that. I keep preaching this message and warning that we are headed down a slippery slope towards corporate tyrannical reign in this country. We here at Naked are trying to wake some people up.

Please wake up.

Anti-American, Racist, Terror Loving Douche!

Posted on 13 November 2009 by Spatziano

“Matt, have you been smoking pot in the bathroom?” my secretary asked me.

I guess that you’re the big stick I carry at work. I get no respect from my own employees.

“No, I haven’t,” I said. I wasn’t lying.

One of my other workers called the landlord and complained of a “marijuana-like stench”. Two hours later the cops were there, with a hard-on, busting down the door, arresting the tenants, and taking away a forest of pot plants.

As I left for the day, I stopped downstairs and joked to the cop, “I don’t think anyone’s going to miss a plant. How about maybe letting me take one home to the bride?”

His response was about as ludicrous as any I’ve ever heard. Coming from the LAPD, it didn’t surprise me one bit. “That’s not funny, and it’s anti-American,” he said. “Al-Qaeda funds their terror campaign from idiot pot heads like you.”

I should’ve walked away, but I rarely do that sort of thing. “Dude,” I began, “A. Al Qaeda makes money on heroin, not pot. B. Even if they did make it on pot, legalizing it here would take away their ability to sell it to us illegally. We’d be able to grow our own. C. I do support the troops. I give to several veterans charities, and I volunteer for homeless veterans. I don’t support what they do over there, but I do support them as individuals. What the fuck exactly do you do to be so patriotic and support the troops, other than putting some stupid bumper sticker on your car?” (Note: I didn’t get all that out at once, he interrupted me many times, but I did eventually get it all out).

Anyway, he had no response to my question, but he did threaten to arrest me for dropping an F-bomb. I wanted to respond with  “instead of wasting tax payers dollars running around chasing harmless potheads and handing out speeding tickets, why don’t you do something worthwhile?”

But I didn’t.

The whole situation really pissed me off. Somewhere, between 9/11 and now, the Bush crime family has convinced a large percentage of our population that the definition of Patriotism is to never question our military occupation of Iraq.

Now, I’ve blogged many times on why this entire war is nothing but a ploy by the wealthy to gain more wealth and keep the rest of us in our place, so I’m not going to get into that right now. All I’m going to do is tell you, once again, to WAKE THE FUCK UP. I don’t care if you are pro-war or anti-war, but please, please, please, don’t bring that “patriotism” bull-shit out. A true patriot loves his country and wants his country to do the right thing. A true patriot does not support torture, the Patriot Act, wire tapping, opening mail, or anything else that infringes on our freedom.

We are, according to our government, fighting the terrorists over there so that we don’t have to fight them here.  Look, the terrorists had one good day. I really don’t think they are that big of a threat, at least not one that requires us to go to war in two countries over a span of ten years that costs us 6 trillion dollars, but that is another conversation. Regardless of why we are there, or how big a threat the terrorists are, we, the people, need to re-evaluate the meaning of the word ‘patriot’. In this country, we now throw out the label “anti-American” about as fast as we throw out the word “racist”, and once someone in the media labels you one of these things, it sticks forever. This isn’t a liberal or conservative problem, it’s an everyone problem.

In 2002, before NakedWordSurfer.com, I was blogging daily on MySpace. The day after we went to war I protested it there. Go check my page. You can not believe the names I was called by people; some of them by my own family. Being an American means being brave, speaking your mind, and not falling prey to the propaganda. Sadly, I feel we have few of these kinds of people left. We’ve become a nation of sheep.

Wake up, America. Lead yourself. And if some dumb-ass cop pulls some crap on you like they did to me today, stand up for your rights, and stand up for what is right. Like Public Enemy said, “Fight the power!”

SPEAK AMERICAN, DAMMIT!

Posted on 11 November 2009 by Spatziano

bad-economy1

“Hay no habla English,” my patient said to me today.

I hear this at least ten times a week while working and, no, these aren’t illegal immigrants. These are people with Medicare.  Legal citizens.

I’m all for immigration. This is a country of immigrants. However, at this point, we’ve got quite a large community of impoverished people. Many of the impoverished speak no English, and this is unfortunate. Unfortunate for them and unfortunate for us. They come here for the American dream however, and it’s pretty hard to live a dream when you can’t communicate with your neighbors.

I know America doesn’t have an official language. I know our forefathers designed our country this way. However, one of the great things about our country is that we are constantly evolving, constantly changing. And we need change again.

IT IS TIME FOR US TO ADOPT A NATIONAL LANGUAGE.

This is not racist, and this is not anti-Mexican. In fact, it is pro-Mexican.

I want our immigrants to succeed. I want them to be able to communicate and have a shot at going from nothing to something. To start their own little Ma and Pa store and thrive. Too many immigrants come to this country, unable to speak competent English, and end up impoverished. They have no means for an income so they become dependent on the rest of us for hand outs. They have children to get a bigger monthly check.

This is not good for anyone.

It’s not good for us, our neighborhoods, them, or their children.

Making English the official language of America would not be an anti-American or anti-Mexican or anti-immigrant move. It would be pro-immigrant. It would give them a better chance to thrive, and they would be much less likely to be a burden on their neighbors.

We need to make English the national language. We don’t need to make people speak it before they get in, necessarily, but we do need to force them to learn the language.

I’m even willing to take it a step further. Let’s call it American. English is what they speak in England. Let’s make speaking our language a truly patriotic thing. I’ve had about enough of false patriotism (the kind of stuff they spew on Sean Hannity’s show). Lets do something truly patriotic

A society needs to have a centralized language if they are going to function as a whole.

I used the picture of the prostitute working for food to illustrate the problem.  When you don’t speak the language your employment opportunities are limited.  There is manual labor (but even that is limited), and that’s about it. After that, the only way for a non-English speaking person to make money in this country is through crime. So, let me ask you…is allowing immigrants into this country, without teaching them English, good for the immigrant?

THE END.

Obama gets peace prize. Liberal sheep cheer. Conservative sheep boo. Who leads the flock?

Posted on 16 October 2009 by Spatziano

Barack Obama was just awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Seriously? Aren’t we at war, or something, right now?

At what point are we going to stop playing sides in this world and start doing the right thing? I’m sick of it. When President Bush declared war, the conservatives cheered. Understandable because this was a conservative ideal. However, when he expanded our government to the largest it has ever been they still cheered him, or at least defended him, all the way until the end of his reign. Then, only when bashing him became the most likely way to get another Republican elected, did they start to criticize him. Enlarging government is not a conservative ideal. In fact, the opposite is. So why applaud Bush when he did this?

Well, that brings us to what is basically the theme of this website – “Only sheep need a shepherd.” They applauded Bush as he expanded government, even though it was against their conservative ideals, for the exact same reason that liberals awarded President Obama, a war-time President, with a Peace award, and then applauded him for it. The reason is that the majority of us are sheep. We listen, we are commanded, and we follow without asking questions.

It’s the reason religion has so much power in this world, and it’s the reason why a politician is able to get elected, tell you he will serve in your best interest, and turn around and govern to the benefit of the massive corporations, while at the same time managing to convince you that he’s doing exactly what you need him to do for you.

They are the strong who lead. We are the weak who follow. We follow blindly even when our leaders are walking us into a bear trap.

Our economy is shit; the banks have all the money and power. We’re a fascist corporate country. And we applauded these deconstructions of our “American Dream” every step of the way.

We’re fighting two wars in countries that don’t want us there, trying to accomplish I have no idea what, all the while killing the parents of young impressionable teenage boys who will grow older and angrier and in want of revenge and who will become easy pickings for the terrorist camps to recruit. The entire vicious cycle will come full circle.

And for this, the man orchestrating the war, our President, gets the Nobel Peace Prize.

And we liberals, who opposed these wars so viciously two years ago, now applaud him for his peace award.

Why?

Because we are sheep. We are weak.

And I’m frankly G-D sick of it.

If we Americans don’t soon wake the fuck up and start standing up for what is right and for what we need, then our grandchildren will be living in an America that more closely resembles modern Saudi Arabia than it does our Grandparents’ 1950’s apple pie America.

Obituary American middle class: 1950-2008. We remember them fondly.

Posted on 13 October 2009 by Spatziano

I’ve been preaching for years now that America is killing its own middle class. Well, today I am changing that message.

The middle class is dead.

If you look at our history, the “American Dream”, apple pie, baseball, a decent job, and a supportive family peaked out in about 1950. Back then, a family of 7 or 8 could survive on one modest income.

How was that possible?

We have FDR to thank for that. America entered its first depression (we are now in our second), because corporate America had gotten too powerful and gobbled up all the wealth in the nation. There were no regulations to keep them in check. The depression hit, FDR came into office, and he started the New Deal. It turned things around and, by the mid fifties, America was paradise.

Then, slowly, the corporations started fighting back. They got more involved in politics, hired more lobbyists, spent more money on marketing (i.e. brainwashing), spent more money buying news channels and had politicians in their back pocket. Slowly, FDR’s New Deal was being deconstructed in favor of corporate friendly legislation.

By the mid-seventies, it was no longer possible for a family of seven to have a stay-at-home Mom and still be a thriving middle class family.

Then the eighties came about, and the second worst President in modern history, Ronald Regan, deconstructed about 50% of the New Deal, in favor of corporate lawlessness. By the eighties, housing prices inflated at ridiculous rates causing an unprecedented boom in the market, and people started taking loans on their houses to stay afloat, because their work salaries were no longer cutting it, even with two incomes.

Then the nineties came. Bush and Clinton continued breaking apart what remained of the New Deal. We had double mortgages, families with both parents working, sometimes two jobs, and still it wasn’t enough. This is when the credit card industry started really booming. One last trick to keep the American consumer from sinking; one last way to keep siphoning their money to the rich.

This decade we got Georgie Bush. The worst American President, maybe ever. We had another false housing boom, and more of the same.

And now we are all out of tricks. The middle class is completely busted.

In the 70’s, the top 1% richest in this country had 8% of our nation’s wealth. Now, just 30 years later, they have 23% of it.

We let this happen because we’ve allowed the banks and Wall Street to do two things: 1- buy politicians by funding their campaigns. 2- Buy our opinions with massive propaganda campaigns. The tea-baggers are a perfect example. I don’t need to get all into why they are campaigning against their best interest (Lord knows I’ve done so already about 50 times), but I do want to point out their leadership. The tea-bag protestors are not some grass roots organization, a movement of the people. Look at who started it and who is promoting it. All of the people on their founding board are billionaires, and the organization pushing the agenda, Fox News, is a corporately owned news station that uses religion and family values to get the common folk to support their economic policies. Policies that bring more power to them and take it away from us.

We are in a stage in American history where the banks run us. If you aren’t a corporation, then you are fairly insignificant and really don’t have much of a voice. To a degree, I’ve thrown in the towel on trying to mobilize the people. Most people are either: A – too lazy, or B – consider opinions like this to be “liberal”- and we all know that liberal is a cuss word in this country.

Our economic situation is a disaster. Our middle class is dead. The only way to fix it is through government and regulation. Corporate America has you believing that government is evil and cannot be trusted. This simply isn’t true. The ones who can’t be trusted are the ones motivated by greed. Right now government can’t be fully trusted, because they are motivated and ruled by the banks. We must take back our government, and we must use it to fix our situation.

I’ve said many times that we aren’t far away from becoming Mexico. I stand by that. We have more wealth, so that helps, but our separation of wealth is greater than theirs at this point. It’s going to continue to get worse for our middle class and small business owners. I’ve thrown in the towel, and I am doing my best to join the corporate elite. If we can’t change this thing, then I’ve got to look out for my family and me. If I can’t get others to fight this fight with me, then I’ve got to do what is best for my new child. I only hope that Americans start waking up soon and fighting this battle.

It’s time to end the war overseas and fight here against poverty and ignorance

Posted on 12 October 2009 by Spatziano

We’ve failed as a community.

We’ve failed to take care of one another.

To follow our Christian roots and love thy neighbor.

We have failed.

And we all need to be embarrassed.

This past Friday in South Central, I saw a kid get shot.

He died.

This is the third time in nine years that I have witnessed a shooting while working the mean streets of South Central, Compton, and Watts.

We are the richest country in the world, but we have failed to build communities and failed to repair the damage we have done to our colored immigrants… but I’m not so sure you can call them immigrants since we forced them to come here.

Yes, yes, yes, we have a black President now. Racism is dead. We have affirmative action. Racism is dead. Right?

Wrong.

Did you know that, recently, an institution of higher learning did a study on the psyche of children growing up in the ghetto and found that their children live with more day-to-day stress and anger than children growing up in Baghdad?

How is that possible?

And whose fault is this?

It’s ours, and I’m going to take this time to give you a history lesson so that you better understand and stop hating these LIBERAL points of view. It’s time for us to take responsibility for the damage we have done and do something real to fix it.

In the 40’s, blacks were seriously repressed. A black man would be hung by his neck from a tree just for looking at a white woman.

In the 50’s, things started getting a little better for the black man out here in sunny So-Cal. There were jobs with GM, Ford, and Goodyear. Opportunity. A piece of the American dream. South Central wasn’t Beverly Hills, but it wasn’t a ghetto either. It was possible for the black man to prosper. However, the black man was expected to keep to his own. If he went east of Alameda, he’d be arrested on principle and sometimes beaten. Blacks grew angrier and angrier at this mistreatment, this lack of inequality. As anger builds, eventually, it must be released. It’s either going to be released on self, on those close to you, or on the enemy. They released it on the enemy. It was the first LA riot, and it sent a message to the world that blacks were going to fight for themselves and stop fighting each other.

Then came the 60’s. MLK…the Black Panthers. Community groups fed their poor and educated them and provided opportunity.

You know what happened? J. Edgar Hoover, leader of the FBI, called the Black Panthers the biggest threat to American security and launched an attack against them. It has only been recently that these documents have been released. Within ten years every single positive leader in the black community was dead, assassinated. Now, I’m not saying the FBI did it, but I’m also not saying they didn’t.

Along came the 70’s, racial tension grew again. The blacks, living in poverty with no opportunity grew more frustrated. A police force was assembled to literally combat blacks to “keep them in their place”, as the LA Chief of Police actually freaking said. As they grew angrier at their disposition and treatment, the anger again needed a release. This time, because of the lack of leadership, they took it out on themselves. Enter the Bloods and the Crips.

The 80’s. The Bloods and Crips spread throughout the ghettos. It’s no longer safe for a black child to leave his home. Hundreds are brutally murdered each year. We do nothing until the gang activity spreads into our white communities, into Venice and Santa Monica. At this point, we declare war on gangs…literal war. We made sure to quickly drive them out of our white communities, but we did nothing to stop them from killing each other. If anything, we encouraged it. We introduced them to crack, and they started killing each other in record numbers. We did nothing but clean up the bodies.

The 90’s. The drug thing is getting out of control, it’s spreading back into our white communities. So what do we do? We declare a war on drugs. But much like this war on gangs, the war on drugs was not a war on drugs. It was a war on black people. These kids had no opportunities, no fathers, no education, no community, and were living in fear of death every single day. I know these kids. I work with them. I talk to them. I interact in their communities. To them, dying is just part of living. Much like a suicide bomber considers it an honor to die for his god, these gangbangers consider it an honor to die for their set.

Sick.

I once spent an afternoon in a gang house, sitting there, talking to these guys as they smoked pot, shot heroin, and fired their guns in the air, partying.

Yes, I realize now this was stupid. They could have killed me. But I was young and naïve, and I felt like they liked me. Anyway, in that day I asked one of them, “Why do you do it? Why not get out? Get yourself educated?”

His response, “There is no education here. Schools are just a different kind of prison. I ain’t been taught nothing there, and going just increases my chances of being shot.”

It’s true. Our inner city schools are just places we keep them. They don’t teach them. Instead of investing money in our “war” on drugs, why don’t we invest money in their education?

I’ll tell you why. Because we’re fine with them destroying each other – so long as they do it in their own neighborhoods.

Prison populations have soared out of control in the past 15 years. They live like animals in there. It’s rare to find a black kid whose daddy isn’t dead or in jail. These kids gang-bang because its all they know. If you’re born into a family where your mom and dad were bangers, your cousins are all bangers, and the whole neighborhood is banging, then this is the norm. Your cousin was killed by that set over there, so you hate that set, and you’re going to kill three people in that set to get even. This is the same way in which terrorists are bred. The only way to stop this viscous cycle is to educate.

Later in the 90’s we had the Rodney King episode. And now, for the second time ever, the blacks stopped fighting each other and attacked us. We didn’t like this, so to stop it, we made them promises. Stop fighting each other, stop raping the businesses in your communities, and we will fix them. We assembled a task force to do exactly that. We pledged six billion dollars to work on inner city education. The Bloods and Crips made a pact of peace. The nation of Islam grew strong in their neighborhoods and gang banging went silent.

Then, silently, six months into this “task force”, it was quietly disassembled. Taken apart. Six billion was cut short at .5 billion.

Just another broken promise from the white man.

Gang violence increased.

Now, I can already hear you, It’s not our fault. They’ve got to help themselves.

It may not be your fault specifically, but don’t kid yourself. It is our fault. We brought them here, we repressed them, we taught them to hate, we introduced drugs into their communities, we let their schools go to shit, we put their daddies in prison, and we killed their positive role models.

We’re fighting a war overseas for reasons I still do not understand. It’s time to bring them home, take that money and go to war here, but this time against poverty and ignorance. Let’s teach our black children.

Corporate News

Posted on 01 October 2009 by POTzie

One of the biggest problems in America right now is that our news corporations are exactly that- CORPORATIONS. Their only goal is to make a buck, and in some cases, such as news and healthcare and prison systems, CAPITALISM DOES NOT WORK.

When the motivation is money, then that is going to be the focus- corners are cut to save money and things are done for the singular reason of making money.

News organizations no longer report the news. They report stories that will get you to watch, to increase their ratings, to make them money.

We get inundated with stories on Michael Jackson and Michael Vick, the latest stupid bull shit that Sarah Palin said, and tired old meaningless racial tension stories that whips the public into a tizzy. It sucks that Michael died, and I feel just as bad that the nice black Harvard professional got arrested, but honestly- I don’t really give a shit. It’s just not that important. Not when we have two wars going on. Not when healthcare is bankrupting us. Not when are economy is crumbling. Not when beautiful young single Moms are prostituting themselves so that they can feed their kids. i dont care about these stories and neither should the rest of america.

And as far as that Harvard professor issue- I don’t know if it was racially motivated or not. The only person that does is the cop. What I do know is that cops abuse their power. if you mouth off to a cop, he will arrest you whether you are black, white, or green. we need to stop throwing out the race card (both the right and left) on all these little deals- its like the boy who cried wolf. People like me are tired of it and have stopped listening. And that’s not good, because there is still racism in this world, but shit like this just gets people fired up for all the wrong reasons.

did you that right now, as we speak, the banks who took TARP money can give it back to the FED and earn 6% interest on it? that completely takes away the incentive to lend money to the people. why lend money when that person may default on the loan, when you have a guaranteed 6% just for nothing? this is one more ploy for the redistribution of wealth to the richest americans and a few more of these are we are 3rd world. you have over one trillion dollars just sitting around, not being lent. traditionally, banks lend at 15 to one, so really, that is about 15 trillion dollars not being lent. if this continues, we will have another boom and bust and another recession, bigger than this one. if we dont fix that, we will have another big one, in probably about four or five years. and before you call me an alarmist, remember that i warned of the first one coming.

americans have their heads in their assess over issues like, was the poor black man treated unfairly by the big white man… it doesn’t matter. we have bigger issues, but government and media, distracts us from what is important, while they pull the rug from beneath our feet.

i cant determine what is on the news, and thats unfortunate- because this “great country” is slowly being dumbed down by irrelevant news, while they steal money from the hard working common man and give it to the rich bankers. We are on our way to becoming Thailand and nobody seems to care.

“But Matt, there’s nothing I can do about it, so why bother getting worked up?”

Wrong.

there is plenty you can do. you can call your senators, write them, protest. they listen to that stuff. all they care about is getting re-elected. when they get calls letting them know you wont vote for them, they listen.

we reep what we sew. and right now we are sewing shit.

“But Matt, the economy is cyclical. It’s always been. Things will come around again.”

Wrong.

How is the roman empire these days? or the egyptian empire? or the USSR? the fact is that empires rise and fall all the time. our empire, in the grand scheme of things, hasn’t been around very long, and we are in the crumbling stages, and if we dont fix our government, and help out the people (because contrarty to ronnie regan’s beliefs there is no such thing as trickle down economics- only greedy rich people who hoard as much as they can and enslave the working population), then we are doomed to repeat history.

Write your senator- demand them to start fixing these things. And write your local news channel and tell them you are boycotting until the start reporting the news. If 10% of Americans did this, the problems would be solved in two weeks tops.
